The service

Online Ruler Tools provides free measurement utilities that run in your web browser. There is no account, no subscription and no charge. We may add, change or remove tools at any time, and we may stop offering the site altogether without notice.

Accuracy and appropriate use

This is the important part. An on-screen ruler is a convenience, not a calibrated instrument. Its accuracy depends entirely on you calibrating it correctly against a known object, on your browser being at 100% zoom, and on your display not having changed since you calibrated. Small errors in that calibration scale up across the length of a measurement.

You must not rely on measurements from this site where accuracy matters materially. In particular, do not use it for medical, diagnostic, pharmaceutical or dosing purposes; for engineering, construction, machining or manufacturing tolerances; for legal, forensic or evidentiary purposes; or for anything where an incorrect measurement could cause injury, loss or damage. For those uses, measure with a physical instrument of known accuracy.

We make no representation that any measurement, screen reading, conversion or figure produced by this site is accurate, complete or fit for a particular purpose. Always verify anything that matters.

Intellectual property

The name, design, text and source code of this site belong to its operator, except where third-party components are used under their own licences. You are welcome to use the tools themselves for any purpose, including commercially, and to link to any page here. You may not copy the site's content wholesale and republish it as your own.

Measurements and readings you produce with the tools are yours. We claim nothing over them.

Third-party content

Pages may include advertising or links to third-party sites. We do not control that content and are not responsible for it. Following an external link is at your own risk, and any dealings you have with a third party are between you and them. See our privacy policy for how third-party services are handled.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use this site, including any loss resulting from reliance on a measurement taken here. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

We may revise these terms. The revised version applies from the date it is published on this page, and the date at the top will be updated. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you use this site from elsewhere, you remain responsible for complying with your own local laws.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, nothing in this clause takes away the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your own country, or your right to bring proceedings in the courts there. Where those laws conflict with anything in these terms, they prevail.
